In this article I am going to go over the top 3 Restless Leg Syndrome remedies that have worked for me. Restless leg syndrome (RLS) is also known as Willis-Ekbom Disease, it causes unpleasant or uncomfortable sensations in the legs and an irresistible urge to move them. Symptoms commonly occur in the late afternoon or evening hours, and are often most severe at night when a person is resting, such as sitting or lying in bed.
My RLS began about 3 years ago. I am a recovering Alcoholic and Addict, to make a long story short I quit drinking and using drugs 8 years ago. I have been sober ever since, but about 11 months into my recovery I had a year long relapse with drugs, opiates to be more specific. After a year of using I was ready to quit again, this time I chose to go on the Methadone program. Two years after going on Methadone I switched to Suboxone and a couple of months later I was off of everything.
That is when my RLS kicked in. Every night without fail as soon as I got in bed and started to get comfortable my legs would start acting up. I had that irresistible urge to move them. I just could not get to sleep. so that brings me to my first remedy.

A hot bath or shower. For the first 8 months or so of having Restless Leg Syndrome I would get up and have a hot bath or shower. This by no means got rid of the symptoms but it did give me a brief window of time in which I could fall asleep. Many nights it would take 2, 3 or even 4 attempts but eventually I was just so tired that as soon as I got out of the bath I would not even towel off I just hopped right into bed and focused on falling asleep until I slept.
When I say hot bath or shower I mean a really hot bath or shower, to the point where I could barely get in and then still I would add more hot water until my legs were completely submerged. If I was in the shower I would sit down and aim the hot water directly at my knee. In my case my right leg is always worse than my left leg for some reason.
At this point I was getting anywhere from 2 to 4 hours of sleep per night. I work construction and that little amount of sleep was not cutting it. I gave up on thinking that my RLS would magically go away and finally made an appointment with my Dr.

Medication. I went to my family Dr. and she gave me some good advice: no coffee or pop for 2 hours before bed. Easier said than done for this guy I love my pop.
I asked her about a prescription for RLS and she gave me Pramipexole (Mirapex, Mirapexin, Sifrol) This stuff worked great but about six months after I started using it, I found I was going to the casino a lot. Weird! Without even thinking that one had anything to do with the other I decided to go and see a counselor.
The counselor asked me about my Gambling which I had never really had a problem with before, and then she asked me what medications I was taking. I told her I was prescribed Pramipexole for my Restless Leg Syndrome and instantly she told me I needed to make an appointment with my Dr. because compulsive behaviour is a rare side effect of that drug. Damn it!
My Dr. then prescribed me Gabapentin. While Gabapentin does not work as well as the other drug there are really no side effects to speak of, other than I was a little groggy in the morning. I was pretty happy with my RLS and at one point I thought I may have found the ticket to getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night. But then my legs started to act up again even when I was taking my Gabapentin.
So now here I was taking my Gabapentin every night plus having one or two hot baths a night. Bull crap!

I was working with a guy who was working with a guy who has RLS, apparently this guy had tried everything: pickle juice, Club Soda before bed, medications, etc. Like me, he was still having the same symptoms and couldn’t shake that irresistible urge to move his legs until, he tried CBD Oil.
